LESSAN e.V. is a nonprofit organization that has been committed since 2009 to the social, health, and professional integration of women from migrant backgrounds through transcultural projects. Our key focus areas are awareness-raising and training on female genital mutilation/cutting, violence against women and girls, and combating racism and discrimination.
Dr. Abadjayé Gwladys Awo, co-founder of LESSAN, initiated the protection letter against female genital mutilation/cutting in Hamburg. LESSAN played an active role in developing the nationwide protection letter. Since then, LESSAN has made an important contribution to distributing the protection letter through training community organizers and experts nationwide.
