Nationwide integration and promotion of the mental health of girls and young women affected by FGM/C and violence
Project Description
The project “Nationwide integration and promotion of the mental health of girls and young women affected by FGM/C and violence: Professionalising community structures” strengthens the social, health and professional integration as well as the mental health of affected girls and young women.
The focus is on counselling, referral, support and low-threshold intercultural empowerment services. Through training courses and workshops, LESSAN promotes knowledge on integration-related topics such as residence law issues, literacy and language courses, access to day-care centres, as well as pre-vocational measures and qualification programmes.
To promote and stabilise mental health, low-threshold empowerment activities such as singing, music and movement for stress management are offered at the same time. With the help of the protective letter against female genital mutilation, the rights of those affected in connection with FGM/C are explained and the importance and impact of the protective letter are communicated.
Together, we create safe spaces where those affected can find support, guidance and new perspectives. The project helps to strengthen resilience and enable equal participation in society.
